We already have examples of ideal outcomes being achieved. We want stories like this one to be standard across Cornwall…
John was a double amputee living at home with his wife. He already had a ceiling track hoist that aided his wife to care for him. As his needs were increasing his support package was reviewed. After discussion with the community independence teams, it was agreed that by combining his hoist with specialist satin sheets, John could use the remote to move himself around the bed unaided. As a result, John no longer needed his package of care and he and his wife were able to live independently in their own home.
We believe this is the first instance of someone using the sheets and hoist to move themselves around in this way.
