In a series of workshops held across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly during July and September, around 540 clinicians, social care practitioners, volunteers, patients, councillors and other key people we work with have been sharing their thoughts and experiences to ‘co-design’ proposals for change.
The idea behind co-design is for people who have responsibility for planning services, those that deliver them and those that receive them come together to think through their ideas for what health and care could look like in the future. It is a process that is done in stages and over time. That way whatever is discussed and generated in one workshop helps to inform the next, and so on. This is not instead of public engagement or public consultation, but rather the first step to generating and road testing any proposals.
