Long Term Plan update: September 20 2019

General actions and activities

There was a very useful discussion about the Plan at an informal session of the Cornwall Council Adults Overview and Scrutiny Committee last week. Members were given a copy of the engagement pack and asked to provide their feedback. They were reassured that there would not be any major surprises in the LTP as it is a continuation of all the engagement and co-design work we have been doing with local communities.  Members suggested that the Council’s community network panels would be a good way of getting the messages out to the wider community, as well as using parish magazines.

Following the scrutiny meeting the Long Term Plan events planner has been updated with details of Cornwall Council’s Community Network Panel and parish council meetings taking place between mid-October and the end of November. The aim is to arrange for relevant people to attend these meetings to provide an update on the LTP.  The communications team will be contacting key colleagues during the next few days to ask them to check their diary availability against the meetings so we can ensure that the LTP is on the agenda of as many meetings as possible during this period.

The consultation and engagement slides and the online LTP survey have been formally signed off. The survey is now live – www.shapingourfuture.info/get-involved/long-term-plan/ and will be promoted in the media and via social media channels during the next few days. We are also asking our partners to promote it via their staff bulletins and other channels, so please can you help with this. Healthwatch Cornwall will also be helping to promote it.

We are also producing a leaflet providing information about the LTP and highlighting the questions on key areas of the LTP we will be asking local residents which can be used as part of the consultation and engagement process. Once the leaflet has been designed we will be designing some social media posts to promote the LTP survey. This artwork can then be shared with partners to use on their platforms.  This should be available early next week.

Work is also taking place to produce a video telling the story of the LTP which will be shared among the whole system.

This week also saw the publication of the latest in a series of articles about the LTP which has been published in the Western Morning News.

NHS Kernow’s consultation and engagement team has supported Integrated Community Services Review workshop at St Just and St Ives where stakeholders were asked to give their views about the community’s needs, and what the local service options may be in the future
